Panther City Closes Out Regular Season with Contest Against Calgary

The Panther City Lacrosse Club (10-7) enters the final week of their regular season facing a matchup with the Calgary Roughnecks (12-5) on Friday, April 21 at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth. The game will be the team’s ‘Fan Appreciation Night’ and feature a ‘White Out’ with the club wearing their white sweaters at home.

Panther City enters the final weekend of their season having clinched a playoff berth, but uncertain of their playoff opponent or seeding. Currently they are in third place in the West with a half game lead over the Colorado Mammoth. The Mammoth holds the tie breaker over Panther City though, so if the two teams were to finish with identical records, then that would see Panther City finish in fourth place and face the number one seed in the West.

Will Malcom has recorded the first ever 90-point season in Panther City Lacrosse Club history. He is one goal shy of setting the franchise record for most goals in a single season with 35. His 110 loose balls are the second most amongst forwards in the NLL and he is only one of six forwards in the NLL to record at least 100 loose balls this season.

Panther City continued their strong play on the power play last week as they were 3-5 (60%) against Vancouver and are now fourth in the NLL, going 43-83 (52%) on the man advantage. The 43 power play goals are the second most in the NLL and are only currently trailing San Diego by two power play goals, while having five fewer power plays. Rookie of the Year candidate Jonathan Donville leads the league with 28 power play assists, while forward Phil Caputo is tied for second in the NLL with 12 power play goals.

Calgary is led by goalie Christian Del Bianco who amongst NLL goalies is first in save percentage (81%), saves (676), minutes (1020:19) and second in GAA (9.11) and wins (12). Offensively, Jesse King paces the team and leads the Roughnecks in points (94), goals (39) and assists (55).
