Panther City Descends on Georgia Swarm for Saturday Matchup

The Panther City Lacrosse Club (1-2) looks to get back in the win column as they hit the road for the first of four straight road games, as they head to Georgia to face the Swarm (3-1) on Saturday night at the Gas South Arena. Chris Mooneyham (PxP), Justin Hanover (Analyst) and Lauren Hoffman (Floor Reporter) will be on the call with the game broadcast on ESPN+/TSN+.

Panther City recently dropped two straight home games, a rarity for the team that went 6-3 on their home floor last season. Callum Crawford (15 points – 9G/6A) and Jonathan Donville (15 points – 4G/11A) are leading the way offensively through three games thus far in 2023-24, with Will Malcom (13 points – 4G/9A) not far behind.

A bright spot for Panther City has been their special teams play on both ends of the floor. They currently have the best power play unit in the NLL with seven goals out of 10 man-advantage opportunities. Forward Phil Caputo had led the PCLC power play as he has recorded 22 power play goals since joining the team in 2021-22, and has two power play goals so far this season. Donville led the league last season in power play assists with 29 and again leads the team with 11 assists on the year including four power play assists.

On the penalty kill, Panther City ranks fourth in the league having only allowed four goals on 11 man-down situations, for a penalty kill rate of 64%. The four goals allowed are tied for the fewest allowed in the NLL through five weeks of play.

For Georgia, they are led offensively by Lyle Thompson (22 points – 11G/11A) and Shayne Jackson (21 points – 9G/12A). Between the pipes for the Swarm, Brett Dobson has won three games and made 157 saves with a .800 save percentage and 10.43 GAA. Some familiar faces to Panther City are also donning the Swarm sweater as Jeremy Thompson and Liam Byrnes once donned the purple and black for Panther City.
