Panther City Lacrosse Club Acquires Randy Staats

FORT WORTH, TX – The Panther City Lacrosse Club has acquired right-handed forward Randy Staats from the Georgia Swarm in exchange for the club’s first-round pick in the 2024 NLL Draft, a second-round pick in the 2023 NLL Draft and a conditional third-round pick in the 2022 NLL Draft, the team announced today.

“When Randy Staats is on the field, opposing defenses must always know where he is and we cannot wait to add his offensive firepower to our team, Panther City General Manager, Bob Hamley said. “He has consistently been among the highest scoring players in our league and he has an uncanny ability to find the back of the net. What we truly appreciate most about him is how he rallies his teammates around him and finds ways to make everyone around him elevate their game to a new level.”

Staats, a Six Nations, Ontario, Canada native, has totaled 406 points (156 goals/250 assists) in 76 career games played. Continuously, a top-five scoring threat in the NLL, Staats was fifth in points scored in the 2019-20 season and second in the league with 48 assists. He set a career high with 96 points in 2018-19, with a career-high 37 goals scored and tied his career high with 59 assists, while also surpassing 100 career goals, 200 career assists and 300 career points. Staats has also been a clutch performer come playoff time as he has recorded 38 points (16 goals/22 assists) in seven playoff appearances, averaging over five points per playoff contest. As a rookie in 2016, Staats led the Swarm with 95 points (36 goals/59 assists) and was named the 2016 NLL Rookie of the Year. Staats attended Syracuse University for two years (2014-2015) and totaled 109 points (62 goals/47 assists). Prior to Syracuse he attended Onondaga Community College from 2012-2013. At Onondaga, Staats set the school record for points scored with 156 (73 goals/83 assists) in 2013 and as a freshman in 2012, he led the NJCAA in scoring with 139 points (57 goals/82 assists).
