Panther City Lacrosse Club Announces Trade

FORT WORTH, TX – The Panther City Lacrosse Club has acquired defensemen Chad Cummings and Anthony Kalinich from Calgary, the team announced today. In exchange for the two players, Panther City will send Calgary the 15th overall selection in the 2021 NLL Entry Draft.

Cummings was originally selected 36th overall in the 2012 NLL Entry Draft out of SUNY Brockport. He has spent his entire career in Calgary and won the NLL Championship with the team in 2019. Cummings, a left-handed defender, has appeared in 61 career games and has caused 44 turnovers. He is originally from Caledon, Ontario.

“Chad Cummings is a big bodied, physically-menacing defender that will be a mainstay on our defense,” Panther City General Manager Bob Hamley said. “His style of play is exactly the style of defense we would like our team to emulate and we are thrilled for Chad to be joining us.”

Kalinich, 22, has been with Calgary since 2017 after being selected 21st overall in the 2017 NLL Entry Draft from Langley of the British Columbia Lacrosse Association. The right-handed defender has appeared in 26 career games and caused 13 turnovers. He was also a member of the 2019 NLL Championship team with Calgary. Kalinich is originally from Maple Ridge, British Columbia.

“Anthony Kalinich is a young, aggressive defender who should thrive in our defensive system here at Panther City,” Hamley said. “Although he is still relatively young, Anthony has proven himself as a consistent force on the defensive end and has been part of a winning culture, which we look forward to bringing to our team. We are excited for what the future holds for Anthony as he continues to progress in this league.”
