Panther City Lacrosse Club Ventures To Vegas

The Panther City Lacrosse Club (2-3) will head west to face the Las Vegas Desert Dogs (2-3) for the second time this season on Saturday, January 27 at 9 p.m. CT, with the game being broadcast on ESPN+ / TSN+. Panther City dropped an overtime thriller, 11-10 (OT) to the Desert Dogs back on December 10 in Fort Worth. 

Panther City is coming off a bye weekend, already their third of the 2023-24 season through eight weeks of play. In their last outing, two weeks ago against the New York Riptide, Panther City had four players record five points (C. Crawford, J.Donville, J. Knox & W. Malcom). It was the first time this season that Panther City has had four players record at least five points in a single game. 

Rookie forward Jason Knox was awarded the NLL Rookie of the Week (Week 7) for his five-point performance (4G/1A), which included a power play goal and assist. Under the direction of General Manager Bob Hamley and Head Coach Tracey Kelusky, Panther City has had five different players win the NLL Rookie of the Week honors for a total of 11 times over the course of the club’s first three years (40 games). (Jonathan Donville 5x, Patrick Dodds: 3x, Dean Fairall, Mathieu Gautier & Jason Knox).

Goalie Nick Damude was stout in net in his last outing stopping 45 of the 57 shots he faced (.789 SV %) and also forced two turnovers. 

For Las Vegas, they are led by captain Rob Hellyer who leads the team in points (21) and assists (14). Casey Jackson leads the team with 11 goals. On the defensive end, Tor Reinholdt leads the Desert Dogs with 41 loose balls and in net Landon Kells has made 175 saves on the season.
