Panther City Sets Sights on San Diego Seals

FORT WORTH, TX (February 28, 2024) – The Panther City Lacrosse Club (5-4), winners of two consecutive games, welcomes the San Diego Seals (7-3) to Fort Worth for the first time this season as they square off on Friday, March 1 at 7 p.m. at Dickies Arena with Ron Thulin (PxP), Dalton Jernigan (Analyst) and Maggie Hale (Floor Reporter) on the call. Friday’s game will be the first of a double-header weekend for Panther City as they will also face the Rochester Knighthawks on Sunday, March 3.

Panther City is coming off of a come-from-behind victory over the Georgia Swarm last weekend, as the club scored three goals in the final 1:40 of the game to take the 10-9 victory. Callum Crawford netted the game winner with 40 seconds remaining in regulation. Crawford was the high scorer of the game with six points (2G/4A), of which included a power play goal that was the 100th power play goal over the course of his 18-year NLL career. His 100 power play goals are tied for the eighth most in NLL history and he is one of nine players to record at least 100 power play goals in league history, including being one of four current active NLL players (HFX Ryan Benesch, SASK Robert Church & SD Dane Dobbie) to accomplish the feat.

Crawford is currently tied for 1st in the NLL in power play points with 19, along with Philadelphia’s Mitch Jones. Crawford is third in the NLL with eight power play goals. Crawford’s eight power play goals at the halfway point of the season have him on track to set a new career as his previous career high was 11 PPG, which he set in 2020 with the New England Black Wolves.

San Diego is led by the powerful offense, which features Wesley Berg (61 points – 25G/36A), Austin Staats (60 points – 29G/31A) and Curtis Dickson (49 points – 22G/27A). In net, Chris Origlieri has been one of the better netminders in the NLL this season as his 9.79 GAA is the second-best mark in the league.
