Panther City Closes Out Regular Season Schedule in Calgary

The Panther City Lacrosse Club (9-8) will close out their regular season schedule against the Calgary Roughnecks (7-10) on Saturday, April 20 on ESPN+ / TSN with Brad Challoner (PxP), Teddy Jenner (Analyst) and Shantelle Chand (Floor Reporter) on the call. Panther City, while very likely percentage wise, has yet to clinch a playoff spot, but could very well clinch prior to taking the floor Saturday with a San Diego victory Friday night over Vancouver.

Will Malcom has led the Panther City offense all season and with his five points last week in a victory over the Albany FireWolves, hit the 100-point mark for this season. He is currently one of seven players in the NLL to have 100 or more points. Malcom became the first player in PCLC franchise history to record 100 points in a single season. He has 65 assists on the season and is three assists shy of breaking the franchise record Jonathan Donville set last season (67 assists). Malcom’s current stat line of 35 goals ties his career high and his 100 points and 65 assists are career highs with the regular season finale yet to be played.

Last week against Albany, transition goals were the difference for PCLC in their 11-7 win, as defenseman Brandon Goodwinrecorded his first career hat trick and teammate Josh Medeiros recorded two goals. Goodwin is two goals away from setting a new career high, breaking his previous high of 8 goals in 2018-19 with Vancouver. For the season Goodwin has seven goals on 15 shots on goal.

Goalie Nick Damude turned in another stellar performance against Albany (54 SV/61 SOG – .885 SV%) and now owns three of the top 10 highest single game save totals in the NLL this season, including the top spot with 59 saves against San Diego (3/1). It was his sixth game in the last nine with a save percentage above 80%.

Calgary, who was eliminated from playoff contention with PCLC’s win last week, is led offensively by Jesse King who has recorded 97 points (30G/67A) and Tyler Pace (81 points – 33G/48A). Reigning Transition Player of the Year, Zach Currier has recorded 174 loose balls and 29 caused turnovers. In net, Christian Del Bianco has a 10.74 GAA and is 5th on the team with 18 assists on the season.
