Draft Recap: Panther City Lacrosse Club Drafts Knox, Gautier and Lidstone in First Round

FORT WORTH, TX – The Panther City Lacrosse Club selected left-handed forward Jason Knox from Ohio State, left-handed forward Mathieu Gautier from the Edmonton Miners and forward Colton Lidstone from Robert Morris University with the fifth, ninth and 21stpicks, respectively, in the first round of the 2022 NLL Entry Draft.

 

Knox appeared in 15 games for Ohio State last season, scoring 24 goals in those games. The Huntsville, Ontario native transferred to Ohio State after three years at Hobart, and has tallied 100 points in his collegiate career, netting 86 goals and dishing out 14 assists. 

 

Gautier netted more points (32) on nine goals and 23 assists than any other Albertan-born player in the Canadian Jr. A National Championship run with the Edmonton Miners. In 23 RMLL games, the St. Albert native recorded 110 points and received the Jim Bishop Award for leadership, sportsmanship and outstanding play.

 

Lidstone played in 16 games for RMU last season, tallying 18 points on 8 goals and 10 assists. He also plays for the Nanaimo Timbermen of the Western Lacrosse Association, netting 56 points by dishing out 38 assists and scoring 18 goals in his 17 games.  

 

With the 30th pick in the NLL draft, the Panther City Lacrosse Club selected left-handed defenseman Ronin Pusch from the Edmonton Miners. He recorded 24 points in 24 RMLL games.

 

With the 37th pick, Panther City drafted right-handed forward Carter Zavitz from Princeton University. Entering last year, Zavitz had played 76 games for the St. Catharines Athletics, racking up 252 points on 91 goals and 161 assists.

 

With the 47th pick, Panther City selected defenseman Petey Lasalla from the University of Virginia. Lasalla has claimed 390 loose balls and scored 27 goals in his 60 games as a Cavalier.

 

With the 79th pick, the Panther City Lacrosse Club drafted goalie Kaleb Martin from Whitby Jr. A. In 2019, Martin had 499 saves with a .810 save percentage for the Owen Sound North Stars.

 

With the 94th pick, Panther City selected forward Jackson Rose from St. Bonaventure. With the Bonnies, he has appeared in 42 games, netting 63 points on 58 goals and five assists.

 

With the 97th pick, Panther City drafted forward Michael Ippolito from High Point. He has played in 36 games and tallied 25 points on 21 goals and four assists as a Panther.
