Panther City Falls in First Round OT Thriller to San Diego

San Diego, Calif.  (April 27, 2024) – The Panther City Lacrosse Club lost, 9-8 (OT), in overtime on Saturday night against the San Diego Seals in the NLL Quarterfinal playoff win-or-go home matchup. It was a duel between the two teams’ goalies all night as neither team ever had more than a one-goal lead. The game featured eight lead changes and eight ties.

Goalie Nick Damude was the standout for Panther City despite the loss as he made 54 saves on 63 shots faced for a save percentage of 85.7%, including making 17 saves in the fourth quarter. It was his fourth game in the 2023-24 season with at least 54 saves. Damude and the PCLC defense only allowed a single goal in both the third and fourth quarters. He recorded 54 saves on April 14 against Albany as well. Damude also added an assist on a Phil Caputo goal.

Rookie Ryan Sheridan was the leading goal scorer for PCLC as he netted two goals. Veterans Callum Crawford (4 points – 1G/3A) and Will Malcom (3 points – 1G/2A) led the offense out of the front door. Tony Malcom also contributed in transition as he recorded three points with a one goal, two assist evening, while also adding six loose balls and two caused turnovers.

Defensively, Captain Matt Hossack led the club with 10 loose balls and also added two caused turnovers. Defenseman Pat Foley also added a goal for the back-end unit.
