Panther City Faces Crucial Matchup with Calgary Roughnecks

The Panther City Lacrosse Club (9-6) will face the Calgary Roughnecks (10-5) for the first time this season in a crucial playoff-factoring matchup on Saturday, April 8 from the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary. The game is the TSN Game of the Week and will have Brad Challoner (PxP), Teddy Jenner (Analyst) and Shantelle Chand (Floor Reporter) on the call. The game can be seen locally on Bally Sports Southwest Extra and streamed everywhere in the U.S. on ESPN+.

Panther City is coming off a four-game game homestand where the team went 3-1 and are winners of five of their last seven games. Last week against Albany, Will Malcom led the way for the club as he recorded four points (2G/2A). With that performance, Malcom set the franchise record for points in a single season with 88, as he passed Patrick Dodds’ 84 points from 2021-22. Rookie of the Year candidate, Jonathan Donville also etched himself into Panther City’s history book as he recorded his 59th assist on the season, which set the franchise record for most assists in a single season, also breaking Dodds’ previous record of 58.

Panther City plays their best when the team is able to get out and run and that is evident most through the team’s success with transition goals. Last week, Josh Medeiros recorded one goal, which was the seventh straight game he has scored. Also scoring in transition for Panther City was Tony Malcom, Matt Hossack and Connor Sellars. Medeiros leads the NLL amongst transition players with 18 goals on the season.

Calgary is led offensively by Jesse King who has recorded 81 points (34G/47A) this season. Defensively, Christian Del Bianco is an MVP candidate between the pipes for the Roughnecks and currently has a 9.53 GAA. Zach Currier patrols between the lines for Calgary and is third in the league with 199 loose balls.
