Panther City Ventures To Philadelphia To Face Wings

The Panther City Lacrosse Club (5-6) will head east to face the Philadelphia Wings (4-6) this Sunday, March 10 at 2 p.m. CT. The last time the two clubs met, Will Malcom scored the game winner on an ankle-breaking move with 48 seconds remaining to put PCLC up 11-10.

Malcom is coming off one of his best games as a pro, as last Sunday against Rochester, the fourth-year forward from Vancouver netted seven goals, for his first career sock trick, as well as setting a new career high in goals scored. His previous career high in goals scored was five, which he accomplished twice last season (1/28/23 at VAN & 3/4/23 vs. SASK). He is now 10 goals away from 100 career goals scored.

Jonathan Donville is also coming off a strong performance against Rochester, as he totaled seven points (3G/4A) against the Knighthawks. With his four assists, he surpassed 100 career assists in just 29 career games and now has 33 assists on the season.

Defenseman Matt Hossack recorded a career high four caused turnovers against San Diego (3/1/24) and has a team leading 20 CTOs on the season, of which places him tied for sixth in the NLL. He leads the defense with 59 loose balls.

Philadelphia is led by Mitch Jones, who they acquired mid-season last year. He currently leads the team in points (63) and assists (47). Forward Joe Restetarits leads the Wings with 21 goals. Between the pipes for Philadelphia is goalie, Zach Higgins, who has appeared in every game for Philadelphia and has made 436 saves.

The game features a personal connection between the two head coaches, as PCLC’s boss bench, Tracey Kelusky’s previous stop before Fort Worth was in Philadelphia as Wings Head Coach Paul Day’s offensive coordinator. The two also work together in the summer as Kelusky is the offensive coordinator and Day is the General Manager for the four-time Mann Cup Champions, Peterborough Lakers.
