Panther City Falls to Calgary Roughnecks

The Panther City Lacrosse Club (9-7) fell to the Calgary Roughnecks (11-5), 12-5, on Saturday night at the Scotiabank Saddledome. In what was a tough night offensively, only five Panther City players recorded a goal and the team only had 35 shots on net.

Offensively, Phil Caputo led the team with two goals, his fifth-straight game recording two goals, dating back to March 4 vs. Saskatchewan. He also recorded an assist to lead the team with three points on the evening. He recorded the team’s lone power-play goal, extending his club-leading power play goal total to 11. Rookies Jonathan Donville and Mathieu Gautier tied for the team lead with two assists apiece. With two assists, Donville now has 61 on the year, which is tied for second most in NLL history by a rookie with the Toronto Rock’s Tom Schrieber, who recorded 61 assists his rookie season in 2017. Donville, with two games remaining, is only trailing the New York Riptide’s Jeff Teat who dished out 71 assists last season.

Will Malcom recorded two points (1G/1A) and brought his season points total to 90, and became the first Panther City player to ever record 90 points in a single season. Malcom also led the team with nine loose balls and brought his season total up to 102. With 34 goals and 102 loose balls, Malcom is four assists shy of registering a historic 30-60-90 season for goals, assists and loose balls, respectively.

Cam MacLeod saw the most action he has seen this season between the pipes tonight and recorded 22 saves on 28 shots for a .786 save percentage in relief of Nick Damude.

Panther City will hit the road for their final away game next Saturday as they finish off the season series with the Vancouver Warriors. Panther City holds a 2-0 edge in the season series thus far.
